This experiment will make you rethink the words you tell yourself: Dr. Emoto’s ice crystals are our nerdy wet dream
Type into Google: “Masaru Emoto’s Rice Experiment,” and you’ll never let a bad thought or intention rattle inside you again. Seriously. His work is WILD.
And it all has to do with water. 💦
Here’s the dealio:
Dr. Emoto exposed music, spoken words, typed words, pictures and videos to water. Then, he froze them and took photos of the ice crystals under a microscope. ❄️
What happened was totally bizarre — or totally incredible.
Water exposed to words like love, thank you, appreciation, happiness, and truth or music 🎵 turned into beautiful crystals.
Like so:
Water exposed to words like you make me sick, Adolf Hitler, and I want to kill you froze like:
Ugh.
Then, because first-hand experience is the best teacher, Emoto passed along an experiment for the rest of us to do in our own homes. He instructed people to fill three glass jars with rice. One would be labeled “love,” the next labeled “hate,” and the third would have no label. For the next 30 days, people conducting the experiment would speak to the jars of rice every day, according to the prompts on the label. (Get over the weirdness. What happens is worth it.) The “love” jar would hear compliments, words of praise and assurances of L💞VE. The “hate” jar would hear I hate you, you’re ugly, and a myriad of mean put downs. 😤 The final label-less jar would be totally ignored. #sadness
In every case, the rice in the “love” jar stayed impeccably white. The rice in the “hate” jar grew spores and mold. In some instances it took on the form of unidentifiable goop. The same went for the rice that was totally ignored — spores, mold, ickness, gross goop. Yuck. In a bunch of cases, the ignored rice looked even worse than the hated rice.
What’s happening here?
Pretty much — the water was absorbing the good and bad vibes, the ill words, the ill intentions as well as the praise and love, and they were having effects on the rice. This was happening because as Emoto would tell you, everything has energy — including and especially — words💬 and thoughts 💭 .
So what is this saying?
That water is impressionable.
And your words and thoughts hold energy.
Basically, our thoughts and intentions contribute to our external realities. And water can feel whether or not we’re putting out a good vibe or a bad vibe.
And considering that our bodies are made up of 50-65% water, our bodies have plenty of opportunity to take the thoughts, words and intentions we have swimming inside of us to shape the reality of our lives. #brainexplosion 💥 🤓
So if our words hold energy and if water has memory and is, quite frankly, sensitive (!), here are some things to make this phenomenon work for you:
-
Spend a few minutes everyday telling yourself you’re awesome
-
The second you find yourself thinking or speaking negatively about yourself, stop. (Forgive yourself for going there in the first place, of course.)
-
Play beautiful music and unwind or dance.
-
Remember that you are a powerful being! Your thoughts and energy in every moment are impacting you, your reality and the people around you.
Woah. Good vibes are no joke.
What vibe wave will you ride today? 🌊
