The “power of positive thinking” has been a topic of conversation, and for good reason — it’s transforming lives all over the world.
But behind every school of thought is its collection of misconceptions. And the most widespread misconception that the “power of positive thinking” movement has sparked goes like this:
Positive thinkers are blind optimists that put their heads in the sand, pretend they’re fine when they’re not, and don’t look at the reality of a given situation.
And this is so far from the truth.
True Positive Thinkers have established a habit that makes them strategic in their thinking, and propels them closer to their goals.
Positive Thinkers don’t resist negative thoughts — it’s just that they monitor the amount of Air Time these negative thoughts are allowed to breathe. Each moment a negative thought lives, it reaps more momentum and grows. The same goes for positive thoughts. The more Air Time it gets, the more momentum it gets and the bigger it grows. And whatever dominates your Air Time makes up your personal vibe — aka the energy you give off which in turn, affects the energy you attract.
So to keep yourself at a higher energetic frequency, the moment a negative thought crops up, try this:
1.// Allow it no more than 5 seconds of Air Time — then extinguish it
2.// Look to its opposing positive thought, and simply be open to it being more true than the negative thought
3.// If accomplishing #2 feels like something you don’t buy into, change your thought to an unrelated topic — anything to keep the negative thought from having more Air Time.
Raising our vibe and achieving a different mindset does not require us to frantically propel ourselves up using positive thoughts we don’t actually believe (you can exhale now, we’re off the hook). Instead, focus on what’s got hold of your Air Time — is it the positive thought or the negative thought? Adjust accordingly. Raise your vibe and life will expand for the better.
