“Thinking back, I realized that for the past decade, I had placed making friends in the ‘if I have time’ category. Work always came first and canceling on friends became normal. I spent time with people who were fine but not inspiring, just because it was easier.”
– Radha Agrawal, Co-founder of Daybreaker, author of BELONG
Happy Sunday Fam! 💕
This week, we made a HUGE announcement. Future San Diego fam, we are officially in party-planning mode.💥💃 Oh yessss — 2,500 people told us they wanted to bring the movement to this magical city so this fall our Launch Event is going down. If you have friends in San Diego, tell them to join our Daybreaker SD Facebook Group! This is our final step before we can really get things moving. We only need 14 more humans to join before we can crank party-planning into full gear. (SO CLOSE!!) 🎉
In other news, this weekend we danced inside the gorgeous Bently Reserve for our first time ever. One of our mischievous secrets is to keep dancing in epic locales that few others have danced in. This way, our imaginations stay on their toes. Our 1920s get down did just that. Pics coming soon so stay tuned…
In the meantime, keep scrolling for a dance floor tale from an epic community member, our Sunday playlist, a Seedlip Serve (new!), our morning noodles (from our co-founder Radha Agrawal’s new book, BELONG!) and our calendar of events. 🔥
Say YES to the magic today… even if it’s unexpected…☀️
With endless love & mischief,
// Team Daybreaker
✨ADOPTED AS A DANCE BUDDY✨
I am a Generation Xer (43) who loves to dance and has been attending Daybreaker Chicago since its inception. I’m a mother and live in the far northwest suburbs of Chicago, but that doesn’t stop me from traveling downtown to dance and drink in the sunrise in the city.☀️
I have attended many Daybreakers alone and have felt accepted and welcomed every single time. In addition, I have been super lucky to meet friends while dancing, who have adopted me as a dance buddy even though I am 20 years older. 🙌
When I am at Daybreaker dancing — it truly feels like heaven. Thank you Daybreaker fam, for creating this special experience that makes my month. Here is a clip of my friend Karrie and I (who I dragged from the suburbs!) getting interviewed on WGN Chicago!
Here’s to many more dance floor adventures…. 💃
With love & mischief,
// Vanessa

Ok fam, for the FIRST time ever… we’re sharing a sneek peek into Daybreaker co-founder Radha Agrawal’s book, BELONG.🎉📒
Her book, our community “how-to” for creating friendships that light your soul on fire, is available for pre-sale here (and it comes with bonus goodies aplenty if you order before Sept. 4th!). Here’s a peek into the pages. This snippet talks about something so many of us have done before. Take a moment to pause, reflect and wonder “is this something I’m doing too?”
Ahem, ahem …. an excerpt from page 6:
“Thinking back, I realized that for the past decade, I had placed making friends in the ‘if I have time’ category. Work always came first and canceling on friends became normal. I spent time with people who were ‘fine’ but not inspiring, just because it was easier. I would often delay or avoid the opportunity for a deeper connection with someone in real life because I wanted to catch up on social media. With Facebook and Instagram, I thought the more ‘friends and followers’ I had, the better and more full my life would be. But it was more of an addiction, a rush, driven by ego, with insecurities bubbling up everywhere and offering very little satisfaction in the end. I was too proud (aka insecure) to reach out to potential new friends to see if anyone wanted to hang out for fear of rejection. And I know now that I’m not alone in feeling these things. Being a thinking, feeling human is challenging — especially in the digital age!”
Let that sink in. Reflect. Are you putting making inspiring friends in an “if I have time” category? What can you do differently to change this? Realize you’re not alone, and if you have comments, respond to this email! We wanna hear and we’re here for you.💕
