“The need for connection and community is primal, as fundamental as the need for air, water, and food.”
– Dean Ornish
Happy Sunday Fam! 💕
As you know by now, our community book, BELONG officially launched this week and is out into the world. 🌍🎉Already, some deeply inspiring convos have taken place including (drum roll) one with Cal Fussman of the #BigQuestions podcast (hear it here!). It’s derf a must-listen, so sit back, sip on some matcha and let Radha and Cal’s convo sink in.
So often we can feel disconnected from those around us. We just want to take a moment to share how grateful we are for this beautiful community of mischief makers who choose to belong and choose to remind one another that they belong too. #BIGHUGS #IBELONG
Ok fam. Keep scrolling for this week’s dance floor tale, your weekend tunes, deets on upcoming events, our Sunday Seedlip Serve, and a post about why we need to be touching our friends more, y’all. 💕
With endless love & mischief,

✨OH THE FRIENDS YOU MEET✨
The past year had been a complete shift for me, taking a break from a consulting career and starting over. As is well known, Seattle is known far and wide as the most welcoming city. Ok, got you, perhaps sarcasm… but what if it wasn’t? I figured I’d just start saying yes to anything I could easily click through online that fit my values. Eventually, this brought me to an upcoming Daybreaker happening on the Mbar Rooftop. I wondered, “what if Daybreaker was a nudge in a different direction?”
I’d spent the summer hosting Couch Surfers from around the world. 🌍I told Toma, the Russian Couch Surfer living in my floating yellow home on Lake Union at the time, to meet me at the Mbar Rooftop for this ocean themed Daybreaker party. Props to her, she didn’t consider that the least bit crazy — just a little mischievously fun. We danced the afternoon away (me reluctantly) with a stuffed Finding Nemo.🐠
I was connecting with the supportively fun and positive experience and wanted more. The Foundry in Fremont happened to be rocking another Daybreaker sunrise. ☀️ It was close but a little too long to walk, so I fired up the Segway (which elicited a range of emotion from others in my 15 minute ride ranging from joy to horror). As I neared the event space, I high fived Daybreaker community members outside. I felt open and connected and struck up a conversation as I carried this quite heavy lithium battery up the stairs. I met Jean Powell and we couldn’t stop talking about life and self-development and yoga.
Since then, we’ve supported each other through different yoga teacher trainings and shared many adventures (like the one where our snowshoes got stolen but at least we had good hot chocolate). It all goes to show, you never know what like-hearted souls you’ll meet on your way to dancing at six am. 💫
With love & mischief,
// Taylor

“Why We Need to Touch Our Friends More” Truths from the pages of BELONG (by DB mama Radha) you may not have considered. ☝️📒
“Most of us focus all of our affection and intimacy toward our romantic partners. It’s wild that Americans watch the most porn of any country in the world (40 percent of the most watched porn sites around the world are from Americans!), yet we are physically starved for affection. …. A study showed that, in conversation, Mexicans touched each other on average of 185 times in one sitting, while in Florida, they touched each other only twice. That’s part of why I love dancing, because you’re naturally holding on to your friend while you dance or bumping into each other as you jump around.”💃
MAKE IT HAPPEN
Next time you’re talking to a friend you know well, make a conscious effort to touch their arm, hand, or leg when you talk to them. Try hugging rather than handshaking (although handshaking is better than nothing!). 🤗 It’s clinically proven that touching one another soothes our nervous systems, supports our immune systems, and makes us healthier and happier. The more you practice being affectionate, the easier and more fluid it will become. And the better it will feel!💕
Just a little somethin’ somethin’ to noodle on as you take on the week. 🤔
