‘Tis the season of giving and though we’re believers of creating magic moments for anyone you love throughout the entire calendar year, here are a few last minute ideas we love 😍 — some are even inspired by awesome gifts we received from the Daybreaker fam this year.
Without further ado — ahem — “On the first day of Christmas my best friend gave to me….”
An item jazzed up with a mystical story.✨
Find an item that has some sort of inherent meaning in it (a collection of sandglass from the beach, a dreamcatcher, an antique). Create a mystical story about it and include in the story, intentions you wish for your loved one for the New Year. Tie it into the item in some mystical way — personify the item or give it a hidden legend that makes your friend’s every dream come true. Make it rhyme if you feel like it.
The gift of sunrise. ☀️
This one teeters borderline romantic but can be done for anyone. There’s nothing like a good adventure to shake up the morning and get someone feeling really inspired. Create an experience for someone. Set your alarm for 4am. Pack a picnic of hot cocoa, blankets, festive candles, and a holiday playlist. Wake up your friend or family member from their slumber and kidnap them. Take them to a beautiful landscape that’s perfect for watching the sun come up. Craft this moment into a space for reflection or for intention setting. Kickstart the mood by sharing your biggest growth moments from 2017 and what’s exciting you most for 2018 in your friendship.
A 2018 friend-bucket list.✔️
Practice your keynote skillz! Create a deck or portfolio if you will, of fun things you plan to do together in the upcoming year. Include quotes about how our experiences are the spice of life and our connections nurture the soul. Call it a memory book (but created in foresight rather than hindsight). Fill it with images from places you want to go, feelings you want to create. Paste your face and your friends face into the scenery. Even if it comes out less than perfect, your friend is sure to feel excited for what’s up in 2018. #moreroadtrips
A Love Jar.❤️
Get a mason jar and a bunch of strips of paper. If you’re at a holiday gathering filled with fellow friends of the person you need a gift for, sneakishly pass around the strips of paper and have them write down why they love this person. Collect them and voila, you’ve created a gift that’s totally a natural tear jerker. You can also easily collect sentiments from your community via mass text or FB message and then handwrite them yourself. Or if you have a friend who knows calligraphy, that can jazz it up one step further. Decorate the jar so that it’s wintery and festive!
The ideas are endless and it may take a few pinterest searches to get the creative juices flowing, but gifting something intentional, heartfelt and thoughtful is still possible. Merry Christmas Eve to all those who celebrate, and may these ideas make you some merry mischief to send you off into the New Year. 🌲
